Jon&Meghan get Hitched | Piney Creek, NC

Yesterday was a great day for a Piney Creek wedding.  My second photographer/friend/model Courtney came along with me on a 4 hour car ride to capture this stunning country wedding.  Jon and Meghan chose to have the wedding on some family property in the middle of the mountains of Piney Creek, NC.  It was an absolutely gorgeous day for this yellow and blue wedding, and I'm so glad the weather held out.  Thank you for choosing us as your photographers Jon and Meghan, and congratulations!

Owenby Sneak Peek | Cary, NC

I had a great time taking photos with the super sweet Owenby family yesterday.  Their baby girl, Caroline, is beyond cute and definitely a sharp dresser! Bethany and Ryan had so many sweet details to add to the shoot like Bethany's baby ring. We also headed to Bond Park near their home in Cary to take some outdoor photos before it got super hot.  Here's a little sneak of our morning!

Sneak Peek Kala+Tylor | Smithfield, NC

It was great to see this sweet couple that I went to high school with when I shot their pregnancy announcement photos.  They are such a cute couple with great ideas for our session.  They were so easy to work with, and I'm thrilled with their photos so far. Storms Family Sneak Peek | Smithfield, NC

I had a great time tonight walking the Buffalo Creek Greenway with the Storms family.  They had a blast dodging bikers, doing pull-ups, and showing their muscles!  Here's a sneak peek of their fun family shoot!

The Sutherland | Wake Forest

I had my first ever vendor meeting today at The Sutherland for Jon and Karin's beautiful fall wedding.  It was great meeting the other vendors and seeing the venue before the ceremony. It is such a gorgeous place, and I can't wait for the wedding!

Sneak Peek Hannah+Jordan | Clayton, NC

This couple hiked through a field of ridiculously tall grass on the muggiest/buggiest day I've seen in a while.  They braved the rain, the sweat, and the grasshoppers to capture some special images.  I can't wait to take their wedding photos in March!

Rediscovery....

My husband would tell you that I am a terrible backseat driver.  I tell him to go faster, slower, use his signal, and any and all other annoying tips that he doesn't need me to tell him.  However, sometimes when I'm riding in the car I am otherwise preoccupied finding photo shoot locations.  I'm sure that frantically writing down every promising place you see as you ride to the grocery store is not the most effective photo location system, but that's what I do.  The notes section of my iphone is full of little descriptions for later of places that I see in the car.  Today I finally had the chance to drive ALL over the county to these little places to take some test shots.   During college I would roam around and take photos everywhere simply for the sake of creativity.  I really miss that part of photography.  I'm always the person taking photos on trips and visits, and I often here "hey, where's your camera?!" or "why didn't you bring your camera?"  I think I just needed a time to bond with the photographer I used to be, so I was really happy to throw the camera in the car, stop at Starbucks, and spend 2 hours driving around by myself for the sole purpose of taking photos.  [It feels good to be reminded that I don't always have to take photos of people too.] So I would encourage my fellow photographers who are feeling run down with editing, deadlines, and demands to do the same--just go off with your camera and have fun taking photos!

Newborn Sneak Peek | Winston-Salem, NC

The first "real" [paid] session I ever did as a photographer [aside from family members] was for this beautiful couple and their first son, Wyatt.  I had the honor of photographing them again with their newest son, Jonah.  I am so happy that I continue having opportunities to photograph them [considering Sarah is quite the photographer herself ;)].  I hope you enjoy this family oriented, very sweet, newborn shoot!
