I have been really slack updating my blog since school started.  I updated my school webpage HERE if you want to read about what each grade is doing!  Here are a few photos I've taken since school started...my kids and I are all working hard!

Photography News

The last time I had big photography news, I had re-branded my business and changed my business name to my married name.  At that time I was thinking about going full time into wedding photography in the next few years instead of teaching.  As of right now, I have 2 weddings booked. TWO.

Since I made that big announcement, I have fallen head-over-heals in love with teaching [imagine that!].  I have also realized that my passion for photography leans more towards families and children.  This is where I announce that I am no longer going to be booking weddings, and although this information has been on my photography blog for a while now, I'm assuming by my constant wedding inquiries that an official announcement is necessary.

Don't get me wrong, I do love weddings.  I love LOVE, and watching two people pledge their love for each other in front of all of their family and friends.  I still cry during the dances and laugh during the toasts, and I am super excited about the last two weddings that I have booked.  Some of the photos I'm most proud of are from weddings.

I've just decided that I've found my niche in maternity, family and child photography, and those sessions are a lot more manageable with a teacher's schedule.  I will also take anniversary photos and other couple photos.  As far as engagement photos and bridals: I will always suggest letting your wedding photographer take your engagement photos and bridal portraits because it will help them get to know you both and your styles, which will definitely help on the wedding day.  They are also usually included in one or more of their wedding packages.

I am still learning and growing as a photographer, and I think that deciding to specialize will help me become a better photographer.  I will be able to build skills and really concentrate on learning about photographing children and families.  Right now my office is a menagerie of wedding gear, newborn props, blankets, and misc. photography things.  I'm looking forward to the day when I walk in to find shelves of organized newborn blankets, and children's props.

I hope that you all understand and support me through this transition, and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all that you've already done!  So many of my past clients have recommended me, and it's all because of you that I even have a business!  Thank you!!!

[And now the moment I know you've been waiting for...family & child montage!]

Enjoy your Labor Day!
